Royal Grolsch N.V. actively supports the establishment of international education in Twente that should provide a curriculum recognised by the International Baccalaureat Organisation in Switserland. This is why I participate in the SIO - Foundation and why we contribute financially. For organisations both in the private sector and in science and education it is imperative that we can attract and retain talent both from abroad and within the Netherlands. Already today we have in Twente quite an international community active in research and education at the Twente University, in companies such as Eaton, Thales, Nijverdal ten Cate, Grolsch, TKH and in many other places. Looking forward this is only bound to grow through for example business and research around fields like nano - and textile technology. Also as businesses become part of international networks (like Royal Grolsch NV recently) this leads to international exchange. Twente should really be actively trying to further improve its attractiveness as a region for highly skilled professionals to come and work. They are a source for economic and cultural development and enrichment for this region.Investing in improved International Education also means building a centre from which we can promote improved English education in Primary and Secondary schools around Twente. I hope the above illustrates why we feel that working on International Education is a vital ingredient of the 'Agenda voor Twente' discussion, and clearly a candidate for funding through both public and private channels.
